Home & Hurricane Ike

I left Lake Crescent on Tuesday September 12. I have not had a minute to acclimate back into society because of Hurricane Ike. I have seen and felt so much beauty in the Pacific Northwest, but now I realize I am home for a reason and my real life - here in Houston - is where I am needed. Enjoy the new pics and pray for us in Houston.

Cindy's Babies

I am totally traumatized!!!!!! Cindy has been having SEX!!!!!!!!! I have been looking for the little trollup for weeks! Do you have any idea how people whisper when you stand at the edge of a mountain and holler "Cinderella", "CINDEREEEEELLLLLLA", "CINDY", "CIIIIIINNNNDDDYYYYYY", well now I am known as "The crazy duck lady"!!!! LMAO Long story short, last week out of nowhere Cindy flys up to the door, I was sooo happy - she's alive! I run outside she is already down the hill, I too run down the hill and voila - 6 babies!!!! Imagine my surprise, I cannot believe she actually brought them home to me!!!!! Suddenly I know how my parents felt!!!! Sorry mom & dad! I have to be extremely careful they really are "wild" ducks and I can not risk them depending on me, or worse yet teaching them to be friendly to human beings not everyone is nice to the wildlife - some sick people out THERE!!!!! ENJOY.

Happy 6th of July!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I'm a little behind! It was a beautiful 4th of July. No fireworks, no sparklers, no Texas BBQ - wait a minute - NO BBQ!!!!!!!!! Nonetheless, what a great day - the store was full of people - mostly Canadians and Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese (oh hell, all of the eese's) and we spent the the day listening to Lee Greenwood "I'm Proud to be an American" over and over and over and over, over, over again!!!!!!!! (Thank you Tallie!) I do realize I have waaaay too much free time on my hands here. I planted these flowers in the flower boxes 5 weeks ago hoping maybe I would make a statement - I did succeed!

Awesome!!!!!

Awesome scenery! As I have stated before "It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!". LMAO These guys stopped by the store on their way to Mexico City, they started in Anchorage, AK and will be following the Pacific Coastline all the way to Mexico. They are from the Netherlands and promised to keep in touch!!!! I'll say it again - "It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!".

Cindy

Meet Cinderella!!!! Okay, the kids are grown, the dog is dead (poor dead Rustie), and Sam is in fostercare - Kari has him. So now here I am in Washington state and I apparently have a duck! A wild duck. She follows me around the store, comes to the door and quacks, flys up to the windows and flaps her wings at me - she has picked me. She is so "U G L Y", but then again her name is "Cinderella".

Mexican Food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey ya'll! I am soooooooooo happy. I found a taqueria in Port Angeles!! LMAO I rode the bus into town yesterday and something caught my eye, it was a red, yellow, blue, orange and green building with a banner!!! Could my eyes be deceiving me? Could this possibly be a place with pinatas and velvet paintings and 12 cents a minute phone cards to Mexico, and home made Corona bottle salt & pepper shakers???? Yes, it was!!!!!! I thought for a minute I had died and gone to Texas! LMAO I ran down the hill, something I haven't done in 9 years, and ordered "asada quisadellas". The woman was sooo excited when I asked for pico de guillo! She immediately stated "Your from Texas aren't you!!!!!". I said "somethin' like that!". Guess it's now official "I am a Texan!!!!!

Me again!

I am having such a great time! Two months ago I could not have lived without checking my email, my messages on my cell, Starbucks coffee, Coca Cola in a can, Taco Bell - now I haven't even opened my laptop in over a week, I spent my paycheck in Victoria, Canada instead of purchasing a cell phone that actually works here, Espresso Rocks!, and any kind of "healthy juice" the kitchen has chilled will do. But, I did go into town and eat McDonald's yesterday - by the way now I realize how bad a quarter pounder sucks!!!!!!!! LOL Check out the new pics Marymere Falls, Sol Duc Trail, Fairholme Store and Victoria Canada. Keep the comments up I love it!!!!!!!!!

Finally

Hey all. I have finally arrived at Lake Crescent Lodge. It wasn't easy getting here. I left Houston Hobby airport at 6:45 am Monday morning. I arrived in Seattle at 12:30 pm, 2:30 Houston time, but my luggage was not so fortunate. I was suppose to catch the Olympic Bus lines shuttle at 1:00 pm, but opted to wait for my luggage to arrive on the next available flight. The next available flight was to arrive at 5:10 pm and that still allowed enough time for me to catch the last shuttle of the day at 5:45pm. Well, that was all good - in theory. I was informed at 5:30 pm that the 5:10 pm plane was running "a little behind schedule" and was assured it would definitely be in by 6:30 pm. Okay, I must confess, I did turn into Linda Blair and I really am surprised airport security did not send me to some sort of airport holding cell for people who have become deranged. But, if I had not turned into that deranged human being, Southwest Airlines probably would not have paid to have my luggage delivered via Federal Express the next day - so it was worth it. I did indeed catch the Olympic Shuttle and was just starting to relax and take note of my surroundings, maybe take a little nap - it is a 3 hour trip from Seattle to Port Angles - when suddenly a very loud, very ill sounding noise started coming from the engine. Ron the bus driver (don't ever mention my name to this man - we do NOT have a good repoire!!!!! LMAO) assured us he could make it to the Greyhound Station in Seattle and once he could assess what was wrong we would be on our way. MMMM HUH - okay - thought that was do able, until the carbon monoxide fumes started filling the bus and the 300 lb. handicapped woman behind me started having an asthma attack!!!! Ron said "just open the windaws (yes he pronounced it windaws) and you will be fine". Okay, time for Linda Blair STRESSED!!!!! Hence the not a good repoire with Ron thing!!!!! Long story short, we spent 2 hours at the Greyhound Bus Station until another bus could arrive and take us to our destinations. I arrived at Lake Crescent around 11:30 pm. Believe it or not somehow it was all worth it. This is the most beautiful place on earth!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in Seattle, WA

I am sitting at the Seattle airport. Now maybe you are saying to yourself "Self, why is she just sitting at the Seattle airport posting this information on her blog?" I bet if you think real hard you can figure it out. (do do do do do do do Jeopardy Theme song) Yes, that's it, your right - "What is they have lost her luggage"!!!!!!!!!!! But, it has already been found and I will be reunited with my personal belongings 2 hours from now. Good thing I put my cigarettes in my carryon, I can live without underwear, pj's, shirts, pants, shoes etc... but for the love of God don't loose my smokes!!!!!!! (sick heh!!!!!!!)

Countdown! Day 2

Okay people, now I'm getting nervous! Not about the plane ride, the shuttle bus, the new people, the new job - no, nervous about packing. Yes, packing! Not that I don't know how to pack, or what to pack - I need to get off my ass and physically pack! Why do I procrastinate when it comes to packing? I operate much better when events are NOT planned. Chaos, drama, having to flee in the middle of the night seems to be soooooo much easier! LOL Luggage frightens me, plastic garbage bags and knotted up sheets hold so much more. That's it, I will throw everything I could possibly need into 2 garbage bags and 1 sheet, then at the last possible moment shove them into my luggage!!!! I feel so much better now that I have "a plan"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Countdown! 3 Days

The countdown begins! Monday, May 12 I will be boarding a plane at 6:00 a.m. and travel 2343.82 miles to Seattle, Washington. I will arrive at 12:20 p.m., Pacific Mountain Time. I then will take an airport shuttle to Port Angeles, Washington. I will arrive in Port Angeles around 4:30 p.m. I will then be picked up by complete strangers that I will spend the next four months living with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds fabulous, I can't wait!
